College & Journalism Background

Nadia graduated from Marist College in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the School of Communication. With her journalism concentration, she has become comfortable in magazine, broadcast and news writing. Aside from her academic experience in journalism, Nadia also minored in Business Administration.

Over the course of her college career, Nadia took on multiple leadership positions. With a strong interest in magazine layout and design, Nadia worked on her own to conceptualize, develop and design a 32-page print honeymoon travel magazine from the bottom up. Her skills in magazine journalism and the use of InDesign further developed as she worked with a team to create a free iPad magazine for the app store. The magazine “echoBoom” is geared toward millennials entering the workforce. Nadia served as a layout editor, section editor and contributing writer of the final product.

For her senior Capstone Project, Nadia proposed the idea for a 60-page digital magazine for the Marist College Center for Career Services. From start to finish she conceptualized the topics for content, mapped out layout designs, conducted interviews, wrote content and created the layouts within. The 60-page digital magazine has been published to the Career Services website as a resource for students and will be passed on for the office to use in future years.

Nadia was a contributing writer for the Marist student newspaper, The Circle, as well as for the Marist branch of HerCampus.com. Aside from her writing and interviewing skills, for which she has a passion for, Nadia’s interests also include broadcast journalism. She has volunteered and anchored on the Marist College television news station (MCTV) several times, one of which was a live broadcast. After spending a semester in Florence, Italy and traveling to over 15 countries in her lifetime, Nadia hopes to incorporate her passion for traveling into her career.
